|Bill Title:||Relating to debt collection practices; declaring an emergency.|
Requires debt buyer to register with Department of Consumer and Business Services to engage in business as debt buyer in this state.
Requires debt buyer to give notice to debtor if debt buyer brings legal action to collect debt and to submit certain filings to court. Specifies content of notice and filings. Requires debt buyer to establish and maintain certain practices to ensure that debt buyer complies with applicable law. Requires debt buyer to maintain errors and omissions insurance policy. Becomes operative January 1, 2018. Declares emergency, effective on passage.
